Amazon ECS Early Success Criteria for Rolling Deployments

Amazon ECS now supports Early Success Criteria for rolling service deployments, allowing you to define when a deployment is successful based on your confidence level and workload needs. This feature helps complete deployments sooner and unblocks subsequent operations.

Key Features

  • Healthy Percent: Configure the proportion of desired tasks that must be running and healthy before marking the deployment successful.
  • Rollback Monitoring: Control how long rollback monitoring applies to protect the deployment until your success criteria are met.
  • Source Revision Cleanup: Choose between BLOCKING and DEFERRED cleanup methods to manage long-lived connections or task scale-in protection.

Availability

The feature is available with the rolling deployment strategy in all AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.

What to do

  • Configure Early Success Criteria for new and existing Amazon ECS services using the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, AWS SDKs, or IaC tools.
  • Review the documentation for more details.
