Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-flex Instances Available in New Regions

Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances are now available in Asia Pacific (Seoul), South America (Sao Paulo), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo). These instances, powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, offer up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth compared to previous generation Intel-based instances.

Key highlights:

• Performance: 20% higher than R7i instances, with specific workloads seeing up to 60% improvement.
• Use Cases: Up to 30% faster for PostgreSQL databases, up to 60% faster for NGINX web applications, and up to 40% faster for AI deep learning recommendation models.
• R8i-flex: Memory-optimized Flex instances, ideal for most memory-intensive workloads.
• R8i: Suitable for all memory-intensive workloads, especially those requiring large instance sizes or continuous high CPU usage.
• SAP Certification: R8i instances deliver 142,100 aSAPS, the highest among comparable machines.
