Amazon CloudWatch Logs Intelligent Tiering

Amazon CloudWatch Logs now supports intelligent storage tiering, automatically classifying log data across three storage tiers: Standard, Infrequent Access, and Archive Instant Access based on access patterns. This enables cost-effective long-term log storage without operational overhead.

Customers can retain high-volume verbose logs in Amazon CloudWatch at lower costs. Data not accessed for 30 days is reclassified to the Infrequent Access tier, and data not accessed for 90 days is moved to the Archive Instant Access tier. Accessed older data is promoted back to the Standard tier for 30 days.

What to do

• Enable intelligent tiering at the account level in the AWS Management Console, AWS SDKs, or through AWS CLI.
