Amazon Bedrock AgentCore New Features

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore introduces new features to help developers create and manage agents more efficiently:

Managed Harness (Preview)

The managed harness allows developers to define and run agents with a model, system prompt, and tools without orchestration code. It manages the agent loop, provides a microVM per session, and supports model switching mid-session. Configurations can be overridden per invocation, and the harness can be exported as Strands-based code. Filesystem persistence allows agents to suspend and resume tasks.

AgentCore CLI

The AgentCore CLI supports infrastructure-as-code deployment with AWS CDK and upcoming Terraform support. It includes pre-built skills for accurate guidance and is optimized for coding assistant control.

AgentCore Skills

AgentCore skills are available through Kiro Power, with support for various coding assistants like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.

Availability

The managed harness is available in four regions: US West (Oregon), US East (N. Virginia), Europe (Frankfurt), and Asia Pacific (Sydney). The AgentCore CLI is available in 14 regions where AgentCore is available. There is no additional charge for these features.

What to do

  • Explore the managed harness to define and run agents efficiently.
  • Use the AgentCore CLI for infrastructure-as-code deployment.
  • Utilize AgentCore skills for accurate coding assistant guidance.
