Amazon Aurora Serverless Enhancements

Amazon Aurora serverless, the autoscaling database that scales up to support demanding workloads and down to zero when not needed, now offers up to 30% better performance and smarter scaling, especially for agentic AI applications with bursts of activity and long idle periods. These improvements are available in platform version 4 at no additional cost. New clusters, database restores, and new clones will automatically launch on platform version 4. Existing clusters can upgrade to platform version 4 using pending maintenance action, stopping and restarting the cluster, or blue/green deployments. Verify your cluster's platform version in the AWS Console or via the RDS API's ServerlessV2PlatformVersion parameter.

What to do

  • Upgrade existing clusters to platform version 4.
  • Monitor performance improvements for your workloads.
  • Review the blog for more details.
