Amazon Aurora and RDS for PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB now support r8g, r7g, and r7i database instances in additional AWS Regions

AWS Graviton4-based R8g Instances Now Available
AWS Graviton4-based R8g database instances are now available for Amazon Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL compatibility) and Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB in additional regions including Hong Kong, Osaka, Jakarta, Seoul, Singapore, Canada (Central), Hyderabad, and Cape Town. These instances offer up to 40% performance improvement and up to 29% price/performance improvement over Graviton3-based instances.

- Performance: Up to 40% better performance
- Price/Performance: Up to 29% better price/performance
- Sizes: 24xlarge and 48xlarge
- vCPUs: Up to 192
- Memory to vCPU Ratio: 8:1 with DDR5 memory
- Networking: Up to 50Gbps enhanced networking bandwidth
- EBS Bandwidth: Up to 40Gbps
What to do
- Launch R8g, R7g, or R7i database instances via the Amazon RDS Management Console or AWS CLI.
